ESTRAGON

POZZO

[3496] No no, he never defends
himself.

VLADIMIR

[3497] I'll come flying to
the rescue.

ESTRAGON

[3498] Don't take your eyes off
me.

[3499] He goes towards Lucky.

VLADIMIR

[3500] Make sure he's alive
before you start.
[3501] No
point in exerting your-
self if he's dead.

ESTRAGON

[3502] (bending over Lucky.)
[3503] He's breathing.

VLADIMIR

[3504] Then let him have it!

[3505] With sudden fury Estragon
starts kicking Lucky,
hurling abuse at him as
he does so.

[3506] But he hurts
his foot and moves away,
limping and groaning.

[3507] Lucky stirs.

ESTRAGON

[3509] Oh the brute!

[3510] He sits down on the mound
and tries to take off his
boot.
[3511] But he soon desists
and disposes himself for
sleep, his arms on his
knees and his head on his arms
