Hamm

[2218] Pause. [2219] Clov begins to move about the room, looking for searching in search of
the glass.

Clov

[2221] I'l tired of our goinxgs on, very tired. [2222] (He searches.)
[2223] You're not sitting on it?

[2224] He moves the chair, looks at the place where it stood,
resumes his search.

Hamm

[2225] (anguished). [2226] Don't leave me there! [2227] (Angrily Clov puts
the chair back in its place.) [2229] Am I right in the centre?

Clov

[2230] You'd need a microscope to find this - [2231] (He sees the glass.)
[2232] Abo Ah, about time I knew it was I saw it somewhere.

[2233] He picks up the glass, goes to the ladder, hgets up on
it, turns the glass on the without.

Hamm

[2234] Give me the dog.

Clov

[2235] (looking). [2236] Quiet!

Hamm

[2237] (angrily). [2238] Give me the dog!

[2239] Clov drops the glass, clasps his hands to his head.
[2240] Pause. [2241] He gets down precipitately, looks for the dog,
sees it, picks it up, hastens towrads Hamm and strikes
him violently on the head with the dog.

Clov

[2242] There's your dog for you!

[2243] The dog falls to the ground. [2244] Pause.

Hamm

[2245] He struck hit me!

Clov

[2246] You drive me mad, I'm mad!

Segment 6

Hamm

[2247] If you must strike hit me, strike hit me with the axe. [2248] (Pause.)
[2249] Or with the gaff, strike hit mew with the gaff. [2250] Noyt with
the dog. [2251] With the gaff. [2252] Or with the axe.

[2253] Clov picks up the dog and gives it to Hamm who takes it
in his arms.

Clov

[2254] (imploring). [2255] Let's stop playing!

Hamm

[2256] Never! [2257] (Pause.) [2258] Put me in my coffin.

XClov

[2259] There are no more coffins.

Segment 8

Hamm

[2260] Then let there be an end! [2261] (Clov goes towards ladder.
[2262] Violently.) [2263] With a bang! [2264] (Clov gets up on ladder, gets
down again, looks for glass, sees it, p^ picks it up, gets
up on ladder, raises glass.) [2265] Of darkness! [2266] And me? [2267] Did
anyone ever have pity on me?
